Dwindling Days with The Sis

Hmmm...Am attempting to book flights to see Sis, and, due to time differences and the fact it takes A DAY EACH WAY to get there, I will see Sis for a total of 5 whole days. On the airfare, that works out at like, $400 a day. All I can say is that we're gonna make those days count Sis. We're gonna blitzkrieg Poland (in a non-politically incorrect WW2 referential way, natch).

It's a short stay, but, Sis, you must understand my love for this man:

I simply cannot miss his show.

Anyways, part from that, watched the finale of The Bachelor. Can't believe Jessie went for Jessica. That is like me marrying Keira Knightley. And changing my name to Ightley. For decades to come, they will never know which one of them people are calling.

Also, can't believe Jessie is prof NFL player, as surely would not have time to go on tedious dates with 15 women when training so fanatically. Besides, he doesn't have the humassive arse that is requisite. See exhibit 1:

Not that I was looking.

I'm over it.

Constantly Gardening

As predicted, straaaange things went down on Friday the 13th. I had Em's workmates over to mine for a speciaaly themed dinner which included lychees in white chocolate sauce (eyeballs in pus), spag bol (guts and goop) and red wine (blood, mwah ha ha!). It also included an entree of cheese creepy crawlies made with matchsticks for legs, which met an untimely end after a little too much drinking of 'blood' early in the night:

But, twas a good night. One of Em's said workmates even slept over on the blood red couch. We drained her of all she had while she slept.

Satdy was spent getting up at 5am to go to the airport to see off some of Em's minions to Guatemala. Then falling asleep at home and having to do it all over again at noon with the next lot. If I never see an airport again, it'll be too soon. Although, given the impending trip to FeeGee, this will be sooner than I hoped for.

On Saturday night, went to see The Constant Gardener at the Orpheum. Let me just say, if you've seen it here's a knowing nod and a smile saying, 'I reckon, eh?', if not, go now. Here, take my car. It is a grrreat movie, and made me think a lot about what I'll be doing and who I'll be working with in East Timor.

Anyways, I hope youse all had grouse weekends. Australia lost to Seth Efrica in the cricket but twas a good game so doesn't matter. We'll get 'em back. Also, Sydney FC drew (I have to add the FC bit because most people think they are called Sydney Nil). They haven't won in 2006!

Sis - I am practising my Pole dancing already.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

Friday the 13th!

Crazy things are starting to happen. Spiders break people's legs. Houses turn on their sides (see previous post). And Cazrock has updated her blog with pictures!

I can feel myself getting hairier by the minute.

Rastawookie

Yes, I know what you're thinking. You have an image of some furry biped with a knitted reggae beanie piping down a joint, right? Well, that's not an inaccurate description of the bass player, but, no, Rastawookie is in fact an Aussie band. One which Emja, her two sisters and I went to see @Newtown on Satdy night. I was quite the lay-dees man!

I may be revealing my non-trendiness here, but the ticket said 8pm. Then we get there, and , oh, no, Rastawookie don't start till 12:15. Sorry guys, but there are some awesomely crap DJs playing to about three people sitting on their own in the big empty auditorium if you guys want to come in!

Thanks but no thanks. Would rather eat paddle pops on King Street with some goths and their ciggy cravings.

Turned into quite a great night though. Got to do some dancing in a non meat market type scenario where everyone was just bopping along.

Anyways.

In my post-commute anger (see previous post), I forgot to tell youse all about the surprise bday picnic I organised for Emja last weekend. Being born on the 1st of the 1st, Emja usually has a pretty crap bday given most guests are either:
a) hungover, or
b) on holidays.

BUT, this year, we organised a surprise picnic for her didn't we. One where all her friends from different random groups kept popping out from behind trees to say happy bday when she least expected it. One where said friends from random groups merged together in the spirit of park volleyball and are now one big group of Emja-admiring legends. And, all I got was a punch in the arm, a look saying 'I'm gonna kill/kiss you later' and a cheeky giggle. I'm glad it went off well.

Unfortunately didn't get many photos. Mr Moron, could have used your skills as the sunset was worthy of being snapped. Dokta, sorry, but there were no gay bees to photograph. We did, however, have some alcyhole (Tangles ;-P). But now that I've told you all about it it was like you were there anyway, huh?

I hope you're all well. Got to speak to the Sis finally. She sounds chipper, even about moving for the umpteenth time. Can't wait to check out those Polski Peeps with ya in late Feb Sis. Haven't heard from Middle Sis since she buggered off to NZ, where are you man??

Commute Communists

On the train this morning, I was sitting next to some young lady. When the train pulled up to North Sydney, another, slightly older lady stepped in. Now, when I say slightly older, I mean the type of age that is just before that age where you feel guilty still sitting in your seat when they are standing. You know the type.

Or at least that's how I saw it.

The girl next to me obviously saw it differently. Within seconds she was huffing and sighing and casting disapproving looks my way. By the time I had resolved to give her a 'Stick it lady, I gots my seat fair and square' look of my own, she was up and offering her seat to the slightly older standing lady. The SOSL accepted, with the younger lady giving me more withering looks.

It reminded me of the time in Year 9 when I finally got to sit next to the hot girl on the bus after months of awkward throwing of assorted objects at her head from the back of the bus. Trying to, quite obviously I thought, show her I liked her. Then some old fart gets on with an expectant look and before I know it I'm standing at the back of the aisle looking wistfully through my pimples and crusty braces at what could have been.

In this morning's incident, I felt just as bad. Until I heard Eminem blaring from the SOSL's earphones. Skank.

If that doesn't exclude her from giving-up-of-seat priveleges, I don't know what does.

Get your kicks in 2006

Yo yo yo and welcome to 2006! I reckon this will be a grrreat year!

Any year that starts off with a day like New Year's Day is bound to be HOT! (i.e. 44 degrees in Sydney town).

What did you guys all get up to? Don't worry I'll just read your blogs.

I watched the fireworks from Kirrbilli at the house of a girl named Keiran. Was very strage sitting next to her, hearing 'Kizza' and trying not to react to it.

Emja and I went to the Feelgood Festival at Luna Park on New Year's Day. It was great - unlimited rides, airconditioned venues. We went on some pretty tame and some pretty cool rides. One of which was so powerful it snapped Emja's sunnies IN TWO!

Randoms we ran into included:
Emja's school mates.
Max from our Costa Rica trip.
Drew etc. from my school.

It was great! If you haven't already, you guys should check out the following:
Ozomatli
Lior
Rastawookie

They all ROCK! Ozomatli mix LA gangsta rap with latin salsa. Lior is a great voice with lots of variety. Rastawookie are awesome and remind me of Costa Rica - they are playing @Newtown this Saturday. I know I'll be there.
