Happy Snapping

I bought a cheapo second hand SLR camera. And the lovely lady pictured above bought me a photography class! I start in a few weeks. She's a gem!

Sorry about the lack of posts, I have been variously gallivanting and sitting on my posterior for the past few weeks. I went up to Tamworth to see the cousins and get some country air in me. It was great to see Stu, Cal and Uncle Ian and Aunty Merrin (pictured below with Stu running off from the camera).

Then last weekend I took Em to see Lano and Woodley's Goodbye show in Melbourne. She gave me a guided tour of Brunswick St, which, I have to say, is leagues ahead of Newtown in the coolness stakes. Leagues. Can't wait to move to Melbourne as per the post-Spain plan.

Lunch with middle sis this Friday. See ya there MS!

Shave off my hair and call me baldy.

I'm losing the curls in the name of Lukaemia Research. Y'all can sponsor me here if you like. The big shave-off happens 5 May.

Mid-week Mental Health Day

This is something everyone should do at least once a month. Yesterday, Emja and I were sitting in the Sydney morning traffic crawl (something that happens every second day these days) when she just turns to me and says, 'I'm so SICK of this, let's not go to work! Where shall we go?'. To which I replied, 'It's gotta be West Head Point'.

The following is a photographic record of our awesome mental health day:

West Head Point is on the western side of Pittwater, on Sydney's northern beaches. Think opposite the lighthouse from Home and Away. This is the view looking across the Hawkesbury, with Lion Island in the middle.

The locals up there are very friendly, and tame.

From the lookout, you can walk to a secret beach.

And have a secret picnic.

Aaaaahhhhhh...

Scrabble Unscripted left me...

...luke warm at best.

Pastor Luke Warm (thank you Google Images)

Of course this may have been the absence of Middle Sis. We had planned to go together on Friday night (me with my ticket pre-purchased), but when we got there it was sold out. Scrabble...sold out!! Who'dathunkit?

We should have snuck you in Leanne, they didn't even check out tickets. But I always give in to authority like that. As soon as someone says 'Sorry, sold out' or 'you can't come in here' I just cop it and walk away, when there are always opportunities to sneak in or beat the system. Why do I do this? Do any non-conformists have any advice?

But the show was ok. It was pretty short and the MC was shite, but the theatresports guys were pretty funny. Skits included using the word 'pole' by being English arctic explorers who accidentally reached the East Pole, rather than the north. Using the word 'Ken' to sing an improvised ode to Barbie including the line 'Die Ken Die!!'. Also, using the word 'wax' to have a pose-off between two very scrawny and hairy bodybuilders.

Thanks for dinner mid-sis! Twas delightful.

On Saturday, the mighty Flying Balls (thanks to all pollsters) won 3-0. That's two from two. This is looking less and less like a fluke! Unfortunately Emja's team failed to keep up their end on Sunday and lost 2-0. They were v unlucky though and Emja was the star. Football is on hold for two weeks over Easter.

Rock on.

Choo Choo!

All aboard for the sushi train! I took two crazy Canadians to Sushi Train Newtown last night. Man can those guys eat! Nah, but they were very funny getting excited about all the different types of food they could have. Britney had never had sushi before.

She had also been saying on the train ride in that she really really wanted to have some gelato too, seeing as there aren't too many gelato places in Wollongong, where they are studying. Then we turn the corner and there's Sushi Train...right next to a gelato place. Yay!

Anyway, they were up in Sydney to audition for 'Ready Steady Cook!' and they were accepted to be on the show in a couple of weeks. Meghan likes cucumber, vinager and sirloin steak, so should be interesting.

Also, on Cazrock's excellent recommendation, I took them to 'Friend in Hand' at Glebe for their open mic night. Em's brother's co-host on 2Day FM was doing a bit. His name is Jacques. He came to the buck's night for Em's other brother and he was the most annoying bastard I've met in a long time. Something to do with the 'comic gift' (i.e. ADHD).

Anyways, this guy was much funnier.

Wagamama's with middle-sis today, then Scrabble Unscripted. Over and out little buddies.

Wynyard wenches

It was a dark and stormy lunchtime and walking through Wynyard, I came to one conclusion.

The gossip mags must come out on Thursdays.

There were quite a few (at a guess I would say 538) young office-type ladies standing at all the newsagents just reading their NWs/Whos/Women's Dyas/Crappy Crap Crap magazines. Not buying them, mind you...just reading.

It was almost like that scene in 'What Women Want' (c'mon peoples) where Mel Gibson can hear women's inner thoughts. All I could hear was, 'God she's a slut...ooooh, those blahniks look good though, I wonder if they'd make my bum look big...Hoooray, Nicole Ritchie has eaten something...aaaahhhh, that Clive Owen really pushes my buttons...' Et cetera, et cetera!!

And the 'anyone spare a dollar a dollar' guy was nowhere to be seen. How glum.

Anyways, I feel like sushi tonight.

HTML (How To Make it Lovely)

Hi peeps,

You may notice that I have changed the sidebar so that it is less liney and more buttony. Added features include:
  • a world travel map that doesn't link to a bigger map;
  • a search bar that only links to the Sydney Morning Herald;
  • a site meter that never actually tells me how many hits I've had (maybe because number is v. small *sniff sniff*); and
  • a daily cartoon. I think the idea is that each cartoon is crapper than the day before's.

Anyway, I hope youse like the new improved Life of Lil' Bro blog. Tell your friends!

On Friday I am off to this. Comedians play scrabble, with the board projected on a big screen. And any double or triple word score requires them to theatresport based on that word.

Should be good.

Or else.

FourOne, FourOne...

Oh yeah! We won our first game of the season on Saturday, creaming St Ives to the lovely sound of four goals to one. Roll on next Saturday!! Go the mighty, um...Lindfield. Our emblem is a soccer ball with wings so maybe, Go the mighty flying balls! Doesn't have a nice ring to it.

In other news, Ian is scheduled to get with 3 hot chicks at once some time in the next year and a half. Good luck moron.

In other other news, was v. nice to taol to KT on Sunday. Sounds as though everyone made her feel very spesh on her big day. You deserve it Sis!!
